 We've never got around to writing a true introduction to the spoof database, but as it nears 700,000 page views it's about time we did. So here are a few simple answers to all the questions which may be bouncing around in your head.
Spoof Database FAQ The spoof database is an online database of spoofs contained in an SQL database. It has a very simple structure, which makes it quick to query, easy to maintain/repair, and keeps server loads down. To give you an idea, let's do a few stats; - More than 12,500 spoofs are in the database
- It's less than 5 Megabytes in size, and the average query takes less than 0.01 seconds
- To date (April '07) 620,000 spoofs have been looked at by members
- Users have cast more than 6,000 votes, making the database a better place for everyone
- The average rating of a spoof is 0.280306
- The Spoof database has served 2 spoofs a minute since it was created
The spoof database is indexed by a combination of target & refering URL. This means spoofs cannot be duplicated in the database. If you submit a spoof it will be checked against all 12,000+ existing spoofs and rejected if it already exists. That's all that needs to be said really. This link will take you to a list of the top rated spoofs in the database. If a user likes a spoof they will rate it highly, if many users like a spoofs an average rating is created in the database. This link returns the 50 spoofs with the highest average rating. Most Popular
As a spoof is viewed in the database, a "click" is tracked and stored against that spoof. The 50 spoofs with the most "clicks" are shown when you click on this link. Newest Spoofs
This link will provide you with a list of spoofs which have been added to the database in the last 100 days. Anyone can add spoofs, please do so if you find a good one. Add a Spoof
This link will take you to a form so you can add a spoof to the database. All submissions will go directly to the database provided they are not a) already in the db b) incomplete c) future dated
