SpoofX was one of the first spoof extensions for Firefox.  It remains the most popular spoofing solution for this epic browser.  Coded by SFB admin slotboxed, it truly is a great, useful and useable tool for spoofers everywhere.  It's was also the first spoofer to achieve cross-platform installation, and functionality.

Just wiped my pc and now I can't seem to find somewhere to download Spoofx.. It appears the megashare ones were deleted by the uploader.

Can anyone help with the most recent version ?
Thanks

I have fixed the link in the above article. Follow it and you will find the xpi file about two thirds of the way down the page.

Thanks,

It works fine in FF2 (disregard what the wikipedia article says; I don't care if they ever update that article). It'll probably work fine in v3 also.

It doesn't save spoofs the way you probably think. That save button is not to save new spoofs, but to save modifications you make to existing spoofs. To save new spoofs, use the right click functions (see tutorial 3 in the spoofx forum for specifics on how to do this).

Oh, and yes, it should work on OSX, though I haven't tested it on it for a while. Somebody mentioned it doesn't quite look right in Safari, but it was meant for Firefox, anyway.

mountain, if that is not the problem, open up a thread in the forum about it.

Could never get right click save tar = ref to work. Must be some other add on messing with the functionality. But I was able to import old spoof files and edit them - to make new spoofs. My mom wont let me into the forum but thanks again.

Both links give me the message "Deleted by Uploader"

Blub, we've removed those dead links. The official release versions are available here on SFB's server.

Is this abandoned? Will it ever be updated for FireFox 3 ?

All that you need to do to make it work in FF3 is to unzip it (.xpi is just a ZIP, so rename it to .zip and Windows will handle it just fine) and edit the manifest by hand to list the max version as 3.1b2. Then rename it back to .xpi format and install from your local copy (should be able to drag-and-drop it onto Firefox.

When I said manifest, I meant install.rdf, sorrry.

that works to install it but none of the functions work for me.

That's odd. Must be specific to your system. Just changing the version in install.rdf works for me on 3.1b2, and now I'm downloading to fix it up for 3.1b3. Would be nice if they could get this on the real Addons site though. The addons site (I've got a couple over there) lets them just select their maximum version from a dropdown, so when they update Firefox, if your addon still works you just select the new version in the dropdown and you're done. Don't know if they'd allow this kind of an addon, but it might allow nast to keep it updated a bit easier.
